Trailer driving is one of Uganda’s most rewarding driving careers. From logistics and fuel transport to long-distance goods delivery, Class CE (Trailer) drivers are always in demand. The journey starts with skill—and that’s exactly what you’ll gain at Fern Engineering & Machinery Training.
This course isn’t for show. It’s for people who want to earn big, drive professionally, and operate trailers with safety and precision.
Driving a trailer is not like driving a car—it’s a completely different skill. That’s why our training takes you from zero to expert, step by step.
We begin with classroom theory, focusing on traffic laws, driver safety, trailer mechanics, and road etiquette. You’ll learn how to inspect a trailer before starting a journey, how to read cargo documents, and how to follow Ugandan and East African transport regulations.
Then we head to the yard. You’ll train on real trailers, with real trailers and loaded conditions. You’ll learn clutch control for heavy vehicles, wide-turn steering, trailer reversing, and coupling/uncoupling the trailer from the head unit. We simulate city driving, highway driving, border crossings, and fuel depot procedures—so that by the end, you’re not just licensed. You’re ready.

We train on actual trailers, not theory boards. You’ll drive full-size units—just like the ones used by real transport companies. Our instructors are experienced, friendly, and trained to explain in Swahili, Luganda, or slow English if needed. You’ll feel supported, not pressured.
If you’re coming from a far-off district, we offer affordable accommodation—with safe sleeping areas, bathrooms, and free daily meals and beds. You won’t need to worry about rent or food. Just bring your energy and focus.
For foreign trainees, we provide free visa processing support, including invitation letters and travel assistance. You’ll be welcomed at the border and guided every step of the way.
And once you’re done? We don’t just wave goodbye. We assist you in finding work. Many of our former students are now driving trailers for fuel companies, logistics firms, freight depots, and even across Kenya, Rwanda, and Congo.
However, it’s not for those who have never driven a car before. You need to have driven and posses a valid driving permit (at least 2 years old) and we’ll teach you everything—how to turn a 22-wheeler in tight spaces, how to reverse with a container, how to brake without jackknifing, and how to handle Uganda’s challenging roads with calm confidence.
If you’re coming from far districts like Lira, Kisoro, or Hoima, don’t worry—we’ve got affordable and clean accommodation, beds, and meals during training. And if you’re from outside Uganda, we offer free visa assistance to help you join with ease. We train in English, Swahili, and explain in simple Luganda to make sure you understand every part of the course.
Once you graduate, we’ll walk with you toward real opportunities. From fuel companies to cross-border logistics firms, Uganda is full of companies looking for certified trailer drivers. And our job support team is here to help you get in the driver’s seat.
How long is trailer driver training in Uganda?
The course takes about 4–6 weeks depending on your starting experience. Week 1–2 is theory and yard training. Weeks 3–5 focus on real trailer driving, reversing, border scenarios, and fuel depot simulations. We also prepare you for the official driving test and help with scheduling.
Do I need a driving permit to enroll?
Yes. To train for Class CE, you should already have a Class B or CM license. If you don’t have one yet, we can train you for Class B first, then upgrade you to trailers afterward. Many students follow this pathway.
How much is the trailer training course in Uganda?
Fees is just UGX 2,500,000, and you can start with 50% deposit and complete the balance before final certification. We also offer periodic scholarships and bursaries—ask our team for current offers.
Do you offer accommodation and meals?
Yes. We provide free housing and meals for students who come from other districts or countries. The accommodation is clean, quiet, and within walking distance to the training yard. Meals are served daily—so you won’t have to hustle for food.
Can I join if I’m from Kenya, Rwanda, or South Sudan?
Yes. We welcome foreign students and provide free visa support and guidance on travel. You’ll receive a training invitation letter and assistance with immigration documents. Once you arrive, our team will make sure you settle in comfortably.
Is your certificate accepted across Uganda and East Africa?
Absolutely. Our trailer driving certificate is accepted by companies in Uganda and East Africa. We issue certificates with Fern Engineering & Machinery Training branding, machine type, duration of training, and assessment score. Many firms recognize our trainees immediately.
Do you offer job assistance after the course?
Yes. We help our graduates connect with fuel transporters, logistics companies, depot operators, and road construction firms that need skilled trailer drivers. We provide reference letters, job leads, and interview preparation to help you succeed.
What language is the training in?
We train in English, but also use Swahili and basic Luganda to explain key concepts. If you’re more comfortable in your local language, we slow things down and walk you through clearly. Everyone deserves to understand the road.
