There’s something powerful about watching an excavator arm dip into the earth—then rise, carrying a full bucket of soil, as if it weighed nothing. It’s not just metal and hydraulics at work. It’s skill. It’s control. It’s opportunity.
In Uganda, excavators are shaping the future—building roads, clearing land, digging foundations. And now, you can be the person controlling that future.
At Fern Engineering & Machinery Training, we believe every Ugandan deserves a real skill that earns real money. If you’re tired of waiting for white-collar jobs or struggling with underpaying work, excavator training could be your turning point.
Excavators are complex machines that require proper training to operate safely and effectively. That’s why our training begins with a full introduction to the parts and systems of the machine.
You’ll learn how the boom, stick, and bucket work together, how to balance hydraulic pressure, and how to handle the machine on uneven Ugandan terrain.
You’ll move from classroom sessions to full machine control, learning how to start the engine, swing the arm, scoop and dump soil, dig trenches, and even load trucks.
We train you on how to read the land—where to dig, how to angle your bucket, how to avoid underground lines, and how to work around people and other machines.
Our instructors walk you through each step, from simple moves to advanced coordination. You’ll work in conditions that mirror real construction sites—mud, murram, slopes, and flat ground.
We also include safety training, daily maintenance, jobsite etiquette, and operator responsibilities. It’s not just about moving dirt—it’s about doing the job right.
Our excavator training is built with real Ugandan needs in mind. We know you’re not just learning for fun—you’re learning to earn. That’s why every part of our program is focused on job-readiness, confidence, and actual operation time. No long theories, no lectures you forget the next day—just practical learning.
We train with patience. Our instructors don’t rush you. They explain, demonstrate, let you try, and guide you until you get it. Whether it’s your first time in a machine or your tenth, we meet you where you are and help you grow.
We also take care of your living needs. If you’re coming from far districts like Bushenyi, Lira, or Arua, we provide affordable accommodation, including beds, water, and meals—so you focus on training, not survival. If you’re from Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, or further, we help you with free visa processing support to join the training with zero hassle.
Not fluent in English? No problem. We break down everything in Swahili and Luganda so no one is left behind. Language should never be a barrier to progress.
And when you’re done? We help you look for opportunities. We don’t promise jobs—but we link you to companies, projects, and contractors in need of skilled excavator operators. That’s our commitment—to your future, not just your training.
This course is designed for youth from all walks of life—from rural towns like Soroti to busy centers like Kampala. We speak your language, literally. We train in English, Swahili, and for those who struggle with English, we use Luganda explanations to make every concept clear.
Whether you’re fresh from school, changing careers, or coming from abroad, this course is your bridge to the next level. We’ve created a hands-on experience that’s affordable, practical, and fully Ugandan. And if you’re traveling from afar, don’t worry—we’ve got affordable accommodation, meals, and clean beds for every trainee who needs it. For those coming from outside Uganda, we also offer free visa assistance to make your entry smooth and easy.
When you finish, we don’t leave you stranded. Our team helps connect you to employers, projects, and companies across Uganda and the region. You’ll walk away not just trained—but ready.

Our course runs for three to four weeks, depending on your speed and confidence level. Some students grasp the basics quickly, while others need more machine time—and that’s okay. Do I need any prior experience to enroll?
