Class B Driving Course in Uganda

In Uganda, having a driver’s license isn’t just about the freedom to move—it’s a door to new opportunities. From delivering goods across Kampala to driving clients through the streets of Entebbe or working as a personal driver in Mukono, one license can unlock countless jobs.

If you’ve ever wanted to drive confidently, legally, and skillfully, the Class B Driving Course is your perfect first step.

At Fern Engineering & Machinery Training, we don’t teach driving like a checklist—we train you to be a responsible, confident driver who understands both the wheel and the world around it.

Whether you want to drive a private car, become a professional driver, or simply need the license for future job prospects, this course will give you everything you need—from road signs to real road experience.

Course Outline

This Class B driving course is focused on non-commercial vehicles—mostly cars and small vans weighing not more than 3,500 kg. It’s the category you need to drive most saloon cars, SUVs, taxis, and personal vehicles legally on Ugandan roads.

You begin with classroom theory. This includes understanding the Uganda Highway Code, road signs, lane discipline, defensive driving, speed limits, and traffic rules.

You’ll also learn basic car maintenance and safety checks—how to inspect tyres, lights, brakes, engine oil, and coolant before you start a journey.

Once the basics are clear, we shift focus to the car itself. You’ll learn how to sit properly, adjust mirrors, understand the dashboard, and control the clutch, accelerator, and brakes. From there, it’s full road practice—driving through town, handling roundabouts, starting on slopes, overtaking safely, and reversing in tight spots.

You’ll practice day by day under the supervision of patient instructors who don’t shout, don’t rush, and don’t judge. You’ll build confidence with each turn of the key.

Why Choose This Course

There are many driving schools in Uganda—but very few go beyond just helping you “pass a test.” At Fern Engineering & Machinery Training, our Class B driving course is built for real driving, real safety, and real opportunities.

We don’t give you 5 rushed driving sessions and send you for testing. We give you time. We train you until you’re ready—mentally and practically. Whether you’re 18 or 45, this course meets you where you are and helps you move forward.

Our instructors are friendly, respectful, and experienced. They train in English, Swahili, and explain key points in Luganda when needed. They’ve trained hundreds of drivers who are now confidently driving for companies, families, or themselves.

Coming from outside Kampala? No worries. We offer affordable accommodation for our trainees from upcountry. You’ll stay in clean rooms, enjoy daily hot meals, and focus on learning without worrying about rent or food. If you’re coming from a foreign country, we’ll support you with visa processing and guide you from the moment you reach the border or airport.

And when you finish the course? We don’t leave you on your own. If you’re looking to work as a driver, we provide job connection support. Many of our Class B graduates now work with ride-hailing companies, NGOs, private businesses, and hotels that need professional drivers.

We train students from every walk of life: school leavers, young parents, job seekers, and even people returning from abroad who want to restart their journey with skill and pride.

If you’re coming from far away, we offer affordable and clean accommodation, meals, and beds during the training. And for our foreign brothers and sisters coming from Kenya, South Sudan, Congo, or Rwanda—we offer free visa assistance so you can train here with ease and confidence.

Not everyone understands English perfectly—and we respect that. That’s why we train in English, Swahili, and explain key topics in Luganda when needed. Whether you’re a beginner or someone who failed a previous driving attempt, this course is for you. No shame, no pressure—just the guidance and time you need to succeed.
